HEC Formula for CGPA to Percentage
Higher Education Commission (HEC) Pakistan uses standard formula to convert CGPA to percentage. For CGPA out of 4.0 scale, formula is Percentage = (CGPA / 4) x 100 which is same as CGPA x 25. For CGPA out of 5.0 scale, formula is Percentage = (CGPA / 5) x 100 which is CGPA x 20. This formula is used by FPSC, PPSC, KPPSC, SPSC, BPSC and for foreign scholarships.
Example: If your CGPA is 3.2 out of 4.0, your percentage will be 3.2 x 25 = 80%. If your CGPA is 3.6 out of 4.0, percentage = 90%. For 5.0 scale, 4.0 CGPA = 80%. HEC also uses another formula for some universities: Percentage = (CGPA - 0.5) x 10 x? But official HEC letter says multiply by 25 for 4 scale is accepted for all equivalence.
