How Zakat is Calculated - Islamic Formula
Zakat is obligatory on every Muslim whose wealth exceeds Nisab. Nisab is the minimum amount of wealth. For gold, Nisab is 7.5 tola (87.48 grams) and for silver, Nisab is 52.5 tola (612.36 grams). If your total savings including gold, silver and cash is equal to or more than silver Nisab value, you must pay 2.5% Zakat. Formula: Zakat = Total Zakatable Wealth x 2.5 / 100.
Example: If you have 3 tola gold worth 720,000 PKR, cash 200,000 PKR, total = 920,000 PKR. Zakat = 920,000 x 2.5% = 23,000 PKR. Our calculator automatically calculates current gold and silver rates in Pakistan and tells you if Zakat is wajib or not.
