How CGPA is Calculated for 8 Semesters
CGPA stands for Cumulative Grade Point Average. For 8 semesters, CGPA is calculated by adding all 8 SGPA (Semester GPA) and dividing by 8. If credit hours are equal for all semesters, simple average formula is used. If credit hours differ, weighted average is used. Most Pakistani universities like UoP, UET, QAU, Punjab University, Karachi University, Islamia College, Abdul Wali Khan use equal credit system for CGPA.
Formula: CGPA = (Sem1 + Sem2 + Sem3 + Sem4 + Sem5 + Sem6 + Sem7 + Sem8) / 8. To convert CGPA to percentage, multiply CGPA by 25 if out of 4. For example 3.2 CGPA = 80%. Division: 3.5+ = First Division, 2.5-3.49 = Second Division.

To convert CGPA out of 4 to percentage in Pakistan, multiply CGPA by 25. Example: 3.0 CGPA = 75%. 3.5 CGPA = 87.5%. This formula is used by HEC and all top 15 universities for equivalence and is accepted for jobs in FPSC, PPSC, KPPSC, SPSC, BPSC.
