FBR Rule for Cash Transaction - 50k Limit

As per FBR Finance Act, cash withdrawal exceeding 50,000 PKR in a single day is subject to advance adjustable withholding tax under Section 231AB. For filers, rate is 0% - NO tax in most banks as per 2024 budget. For non-filers, rate is 0.6% to 0.8% depending on bank. If you withdraw 50,000 or less, NO tax. If you withdraw 51,000, tax is charged on full 51,000 amount, not just 1,000. For example 60,000 withdrawal x 0.8% = 480 PKR tax. You will get 59,520 cash but 480 goes to FBR.

This limit is per day per account, combined for all cash withdrawals from same bank same day. If you withdraw 30,000 morning and 25,000 evening same day, total 55,000 so tax will apply on 55,000 = 440 PKR at 0.8%. To avoid tax, keep daily cash withdrawal below or equal to 50,000 PKR. Use online transfers - they are 100% tax free with no limit.
